Natural and effective ingredients.

Ethical, natural skincare

A sustainable supply chain.

Our award-winning Skin Salvation ointment is still made to the same original recipe created at a Brighton kitchen table more than twenty years ago.

Our whole range is produced and packaged by hand in small batches at our Brighton workshop using active, natural, organic, and clean ingredients sourced from UK businesses.

Our herbal tinctures are supplied from two organic, family-run farms.

Our beeswax comes from another family-run farm, committed to sustainable farming methods, founded in 1922 and located just down the road from our Brighton workshop. It comes from hives sited across Sussex, Hampshire, and Kent.

Our organic shea butter is sourced from the Fair For Life initiative, a co-operative that returns a percentage of its profits to the local community to support education and welfare initiatives. Balmonds has proudly contributed to the creation of more than 15,000 job opportunities for women in the rural communities of West Africa.

Blended in Balmonds.

Made from natural and organic active ingredients so you feel comfortable, nourished, and confident in your own skin.

Our ingredients have been carefully chosen and blended in expertly crafted formulations to support your skin's natural barrier function.

Our Ingredients.

The following ingredients are used most widely across our range.

Beeswax.

One of the stand-out ingredients in our award-winning balm, Skin Salvation, the antimicrobial properties of beeswax have been documented in European and Asian remedies for centuries. Beeswax acts as a natural humectant to hydrate, soften, soothe, and calm the skin, supporting the skin barrier to repair damage, and soothing itchiness and irritation.

As well as soothing the skin, beeswax is a natural semi-occlusive barrier allowing skin to breathe, while protecting and creating a hydrating, long-lasting protective barrier against transepidermal water loss and environmental pollutants.

Borage.

Borage seed oil is a powerhouse of topical oils, packed with vitamins and essential fatty acids. It is especially rich in gamma linoleic acid (GLA), which is an omega-6 fatty acid that has been shown to decrease inflammation.

We use borage in our most nourishing oil products, such as our Scar & Stretch Mark oil.

Calendula.

This superhero herb is as effective as it is beautiful. Renowned for its antifungal and antimicrobial properties, calendula has been used for centuries and used within balms and ointments for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects on skin. Research shows that calendula soothes inflamed, itchy or depleted skin. We use calendula as a key ingredient in many of our oils and creams.

Chickweed.

With anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antifungal properties, we blend chickweed in much of our range to help soothe the itching and inflammation associated with sensitive skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Hemp Seed Oil.

Hemp seed is one of our hero ingredients and is used throughout the range. This exceptionally nutritious cold-pressed oil protects and nourishes tight or dry skin and can help prevent flakiness and itchiness. It can help regulate the skin’s natural oil production, moisturising without clogging pores. Hemp seed oil supports the skin barrier, helping it to retain moisture, resulting in skin that looks and feels healthy, hydrated, and supple.

You can find hemp seed oil in one of our Balmonds favourites, our Daily Moisturiser, as well as our award-winning Skin Salvation.

Nettle.

For those with sensitive or chronically itchy, dry skin, nettle has incredible anti-inflammatory properties and is renowned as a stimulant for hair health, which makes it a fantastic ingredient in our hand, hair and body products

You can find nettle in our Daily Moisturiser, Skin Salvation, Hand, Hair & Body Wash, and our award-winning Hair & Scalp Oil.

Rosehip.

This intensely nourishing oil is one of nature's most potent skin saviours. Packed full of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, as well as vitamins C and E, rosehip supports the repair and regeneration of r skin like no other ingredient.

We use rosehip in many of our products, most famously in our Scar & Stretch Mark Oil, a multipurpose hero that can be used as a rescue oil anywhere on the body, improving the appearance of  stretch marks, scars, hyperpigmentation, and areas of damaged or uneven skin.

Safflower.

Another one of our most loved ingredients, we use safflower across the range of creams, balms and oils. As well as being a deeply nourishing oil, Safflower Oil has a high Vitamin K content and is recommended to reduce redness, soothe distressed skin and manage rosacea.

Sea Buckthorn.

We use sea buckthorn berries which are cold-pressed to retain their benefits and provide us with the beautifully nutritious oil we blend into our products. Rich in essential fatty acids, sea buckthorn oil is another potent nourishing oil.  Packed full of antioxidants that support skin regeneration and improve skin tone and texture.

Its intensively nourishing properties can be found in our Super 7 Serum and Intensive Hand Cream

Shea Butter.

High concentrations of fatty acids and a multitude of vitamins make shea butter the perfect ingredient for caring for dry skin. With anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, shea butter can condition, tone, soothe and protect your skin.

It’s one of our skin heroes and we love it it in our face, hand, and body creams

Sunflower oil.

Simple yet naturally active sunflower oil has a wealth of properties that make it another favourite ingredient. The linoleic acid in sunflower oil effectively protects skin against bacteria and other microbes, while its non-comedogenic nature means it doesn’t clog pores, making it an incredible ingredient in our cleansing oil. Its gentle emollient properties make it one of nature's best skin softeners.

Try sunflower oil in all of our cleansing and rescue oils.

Tea Tree Oil.

One of the most famous and effective antibacterial and antifungal essential oils, tea tree can help keep skin in good healthy condition, especially those prone to breakouts, acne, and itchy, flaky scalps.

The main active ingredient in our Tea Tree Balm and Tea Tree Face Wash, it has a fresh and uplifting scent.
